Provider. Here are a few details on how to come on board:
Both the Department of Health (DoH) and Community Services (DCS)
have mandated that all of our staff be trained in the Core Competencies.
Homes under the Health jurisdiction are required to have 5 of
the 7 courses and homes under DCS are required to have all 7
courses. Even though each department has different requirements,
all of our staff is required to take the full 7 courses in order
to be employed by us.
Staff and Administrators
The 7 core Competencies
are:
1. Medication Awareness
2. Fire and Life Safety
3. Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI)
4. Individualized Planning
5. Behavioural Supports
6. Standard First Aid/CPR
7. Health and Personal Care
We recognize that not everyone is able to acquire these courses
in the community so you can be considered for employment without
having all of these in place. Sunshine will provide the necessary
courses but staff must agree to complete them when they become
available.
Besides the Core Competencies, you must have grade 12 or equivalent
and experience in the field of human services.
